Hurricane Ian made landfall in Southwest Florida on Wednesday afternoon as a Category 4 storm with a catastrophic storm surge. The now tropical storm is forecast to make a third landfall in the Southeast later this week.

The hurricane brought 150 mph winds and a water level that reached at least 12 feet.

Video from Fort Myers showed the complete devastation that rain and storm surge caused.

The Caloosahatchee River flooded Fort Myers and left some buildings unrecognizable.

Dozens of water rescues took happened from Naples through Fort Myers and areas further north.

About two hours after landfall, Fort Myers reached 5.8 feet storm surge breaking the previous record set by Hurricane Gabrielle in 2001 at 3.36 feet.

Ian will continue to move eastward through the Sunshine State through Thursday before heading towards South Carolina on Friday.
