Saddleridge Fire Rages Next to Packed Highway

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) ordered mandatory evacuations in Sylmar, California on Friday, October 10, as the deadly Saddleridge Fire threatened homes. Stuart Bell said he recorded this footage on Interstate 5 while he leaving the San Fernando Valley on Friday. Bell wrote on Instagram that “the fire jumped the 5 freeway heading towards Granada Hills.” The LAFD on Saturday said the fire was spread across more than 7,500 acres, and had killed one person and destroyed 21 structures. The department lifted all mandatory evacuation orders, but urged residents to be aware of the ongoing threat. Credit: Stuart Bell via Storyful
