Nov. 12, 1981: William Holden dies

The “Sunset Boulevard” actor died after he slipped and hit his head on a table at his Santa Monica apartment in California, U.S. He is known for movies “Born Yesterday” (1950), “Stalag 17” (1953), “Picnic” (1955), “The Bridge on the River Kwai” (1957) and “Network” (1976). He developed an interest in wildlife conservation and spent most of his later life at his Mount Kenya Safari Club in Nanyuki, Kenya.
