Sept. 10, 1960: Colin Firth is born

The Oscar-winning actor was born in Grayshott, U.K., to academicians Shirley Jean and David Norman Lewis Firth. As a teenager, he decided he wanted to act, and in the ‘80s became a part of the rising “Brit Pack” of actors. He was first noticed in the television adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice” (1995), which led to other acclaimed roles in “Shakespeare in Love” (1998), “Bridget Jones’s Diary” (2001), “Love Actually” (2003), “A Single Man” (2009), “The King’s Speech” (2010), and “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” (2011).
