If you grew up watching American sitcoms like we did, you may know Vaughn as Jonelle from the sitcom, All of Us or the ever-famous Lovita Alize Jenkins Robinson from the Steve Harvey show but prepare to be introduced to her latest character, as she stars alongside South African actors Atandwa Kani and Altovise Lawrence in the upcoming film, Love by Chance.

When Vaughn flies down to SA, she will be joined by some relatively fresh faces in the form of social media sensation Desi Banks and actress Ja’el Roberson as they join Kani for their mandatory press junket duties ahead of the film's release.

Filming began sometime late last year and Kani has been keeping us up to date with the film's progress ever since.

Kani, son of renowned actor, director and playwright John Kani, stars as the male lead in opposite Lawrence (winner of the first season of ‘Top Actor Africa’) who takes on the role of leading lady named Bailey. Love by Chance is a story about two aspiring actors from South Africa who are independently in America, trying to break into an extremely difficult and over saturated Hollywood industry.

They find themselves in the Hollywood of South, Atlanta, Georgia aka "Hotlanta," chasing their dreams as actors in a new country, while juggling friends and love. Nothing is as easy as it seems. The film is directed by award-winning international film and television producer and director Samad Davis, who also created and produced the ‘Top Actor Africa’ television format.

Davis describes Love by Chance as a pioneering film because "it brings together US and South African talent and bridges cultural and continental divides against the backdrop of a comedy."

Among Kani and Lawrence's local cast mates are Uzalo actor Nicholas Nkuna, as well as local firecracker Denise Zimba. The film also features some South African talent behind the scenes in the form of Dumi Gumbi and Catharina Weinek who were part of the production team on the SA romantic comedy, Mrs. Right Guy.

‘Love by Chance’ premieres in South Africa on 5 May 2017, and is distributed by Indigenous Film Distribution.
