South African musician Ntsiki Mazwai has defended Kasi Mlungu – a white DJ who has been lambasted on Twitter for claiming to be black.

According to TimesLive, The DJ – whose real name is Anita Ronge – began trending on the social media site after she tweeted about being "rejected for not being black enough".

"I get rejected for not being "black enough" and being "too black" to be white... I'm #KasiMlungu & I'm proud," Ronge's tweet read.

Mazwai took to Twitter to inform users to "stop hating on people".

"Kasi mlungu STILL trending? When r u gonna embrace your own heritage so you can stop hating on people who do," Mazwai tweeted.

Mazwai continued in a second tweet: "U guys r embrace other cultures but none can embrace yours gtfoh".

"Kasi Mlungu does not surprise me. if SA was normal...MOST whites would have an African swag. Its just that our whites r too 'special'."
