Cape Town lab leading worldwide charge in TB research

CAPE TOWN - A new tuberculosis (TB) facility in Masiphumelele township opened only two weeks ago, and already it’s at the forefront of TB transmission research worldwide.

The lab is a department of the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation.

The state-of-the-art Aerobiology TB Research Facility is pinning down how tuberculosis is transmitted.

Wood says they’re focusing on drug-sensitive TB patients.

This will help identify what he calls "super-spreaders".
