It's a struggle one in seven couples will have to contend with, a struggle for which, heartbreakingly, there's not always a happy ending .

As the statistics show, there are many of these stories still awaiting a resolution, many couples dealing with the strain and heartache caused by infertility.

Some stories also go some way to making couples feel hopeful.

One mum recently shared hers, and other women who are in the same position she once was, or once were, love it.

"I didn't think I could get pregnant easily," the mum explained on Reddit .

"I lost an ovary and Fallopian tube in 2014 and the ones that are left are pretty scarred up, so I just figured I'd have a rough time.

So when my fiancé mentioned starting to try before we were married, I said 'sounds fun!' And away we went!"

In addition to trying for the family she was unsure they could have, the bride-to-be threw herself into her wedding planning.

"I spent Labor Day weekend in 2015 searching for my wedding dress and had a blast. I drank champagne, ate delicious foods, and spent some quality time with my friends."

Not only did the bride-to-be find the perfect dress, but the next day, something told her she should take a pregnancy test.

It was positive.

"'Whoops,' thought I," she continues, "That's mighty inconvenient. But, we had been trying for almost a year, and I was super excited.

"So, the wedding date got pushed back and I gave birth to our perfect son in May of 2016."

Three years after getting engaged and over a year after having their son, the couple finally tied the knot last weekend.

A couple of days before the big day, the bride-to-be went to pick up her newly tailored dress. A dress she's only had on, briefly, two times previously.

"While there," she continues, "I felt real nauseous. Huh. Might as well buy a pregnancy test, right? Just to confirm I'm not pregnant for the wedding, right? RIGHT?!

"Guys. IT WAS POSITIVE. I'm pregnant. I'm having another baby. I'M SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW.

"So tell your friends who are trying that I have a magical fertility wedding dress they can borrow once I'm done with it.

"Just put it on once and you'll be pregnant before you know it."

While it's whimsy to suppose the wedding dress ever had anything to do with the mum's longed-for pregnancies, other mums and women trying for a baby have nonetheless been delighted by the story.

"Congrats!" wrote one. "I work in a wedding dress shop and we have a magical dress, the last three brides to buy that dress design all fell pregnant before their wedding day."

Another mum added that going to Disneyland proved to be a charm of sorts.

"First pregnancy I found out I was pregnant right after going to Disneyland for the first time! Second pregnancy I found out right after going to Disneyworld for the first time!"

Hearing success storied when struggling to conceive can be galling, especially ones that cite factors which are a little fantastical.

But those factors aside, they can still inspire hope in others.
