This year marks the centenary of the birth of former South African president, Nelson Mandela. As such, there have been many celebrations of the man all over the world.

Another one of them will be a benefit concert held at the NIROX Sculpture Park in Gauteng on October 27.

The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund was the first fund Mandela founded and the concert will be in support of the Foundation.

The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund’s Vuyokazi Kakaza said: “All proceeds from the event will go to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund. In continuation of Nelson Mandela’s strong legacy, funding will be raised on the day to continue to help transform the lives of children, youth and the greater community.”

The concert will feature the likes of Mosoeu Ketlele's Skorokoro Ensemble, Urban Village, The Muffinz, Lu Dhlamini, Qadasi & Maqhinga as well as Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

According to a press release, “Ladysmith Black Mambazo wrote a song titled Long Walk to Freedom, a tribute to Nelson Mandela and the song is still loved by many people worldwide. The group also sang the song in Oslo when former President Mandela was receiving the Nobel peace prize.”
