SA economy contracts by 0.6 percent in third quarter

JOHANNESBURG - South Africa's economy contracted by 0.6 percent in the third quarter.

Agriculture, mining, manufacturing and transport sectors all declined.

According to Stats SA, mining was one of the biggest drags on growth in Q3:2019, down by 6,1%, driven largely by a fall in the production of platinum group metals, coal and iron ore.
