MIDRAND - Authorities are trying to find a solution to the power problem faced by Midrand residents after the Allandale substation caught fire this week.

The substation was totally shut down due to an oil leak.

Officials are still trying to establish what caused the fire at the substation.

Some of the areas without electricity include Rabie Ridge, Austin View and Mayibuye.

City Power representative Isaac Mangena said both Eskom and City Power are on site.

"We haven't yet found any preliminary finding as to what caused the fire."

There was a short-lived reprieve when power was restored but due to an oil leak near the facility electricity was cut again.
