JOHANNESBURG - The mother of murdered Eskom employee Thembisile Yende says she will continue to seek justice for her daughter’s death.

Yende’s former lover and colleague David Ngwenya appeared at the Springs Magistrates Court on Monday morning, where he was denied bail.

Ngwenya is accused of killed Yende by hitting her over the head with a crowbar and strangling her.

A small group of women wearing ANC scarves and others clad in red SACP jackets gathered outside court, singing and demanding justice for Yende.

Yende's mother, Nesta, says she hopes all the details surrounding her daughter’s murder will be revealed as the case continues.

"Let everything that's been hidden under table be brought to the top of the table. Let the conspirators and masterminds show themselves."

The family says it’s been difficult mourning Yende’s death while watching the case unfold in court.

Yende’s body was discovered at a substation in May, two weeks after her family reported her missing.

Last month, police changed the charges in the Yende case to murder after an investigation into exactly how she died.

A post-mortem was conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

The results showed that Yende sustained serious injuries before she died.

The police's Kay Makhubela said the post mortem results show that Yende’s death was not self-inflicted or from natural causes.

“She sustained head injuries and bruises on her neck, indicating that someone caused them.”
