Photos: 2020 March on Washington
Fifty-seven years after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech as part of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on Aug. 28, 1963, thousands of demonstrators marked the seminal moment in history by gathering in Washington, U.S., on Aug. 28, 2020, to bring attention to the systemic racism faced by African Americans in the country. The event, officially called the “Commitment March: Get Your Knee Off Our Necks,” is a reference to George Floyd, who was killed after a policeman knelt on his neck for several minutes. The march comes at a time when there is renewed tension in the U.S. after a Black man named Jacob Blake was shot seven times in the back by Wisconsin police.
