FC Twente midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo subsequently retired from international football following a fall out with former Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba and during his period of self-exile from the national team he attained Dutch citizenship.

The 26-year-old’s new found nationality has been a cause of much confusion whether he remains eligible to represent his country of birth.

Although, it was reported on the weekend that the South African Football Association (Safa) president Danny Jordaan quashed the uncertainty surrounding Mokotjo’s eligibility, stating that the player will play for Bafana once again, it seems there are contradictory reports.

While Safa confirmed that Mokotjo reported to camp on Sunday, in an interview with Power FM, they admitted that there is an issue.

“What matters is that Mokotjo is in camp with us,” a Safa representative said.

“We know there’s a serious issue around him, but we are dealing with it. As Safa we are dealing with the Mokotjo issue. If anything comes up whether positive or negative, we’ll update you," he added.

“What we are happy with is that Mokotjo is here in camp. The rest we will deal with it during the week,” he concluded.
