Vice-President Amado Boudou will be questioned by judge Ariel Lijo on Monday, June 9 at 11 am. The Vice-President will have his chance to defend himself in court and answer questions about his alleged involvement in the scandal surrounding money printing company Ciconne. On Wednesday, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner announced the addition of three new vaccines to the national program. Now every child in Argentina has access to up to sixteen vaccines for free. The President also announced the introduction of a bill in Congress that would apply a moratorium on pensions in order to achieve universal coverage of the pensions system. After much criticism coming from the appointment of philosopher Ricardo Forster to lead the Secretariat of Strategic Planning for National Thought, the administration defended the decision, saying that the accusations were "inappropriate." Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich said "there is no doubt about Forsters' moral and ethical qualifications." He also blamed the media and the political opposition for questioning "each and every one of the administration's decisions." Regarding the Malvinas Islands sovereignty dispute, the 44th summit of the Organization of American States is taking place in Paraguay, and just like it happened last year, Argentina will be obtaining the support of the OAS. All foreign ministers present are expected to vote overwhelmingly in favor of Argentina's call to resume sovereignty negotiations with the UK, something that London refuses to do. Former Vice-President Julio Cobos said yesterday that the "President is paying a political cost everyday for not asking Boudou to take a leave of absence." He also said that since the President "keeps ignoring the scandal whenever she speaks in public, it makes you wonder whether there's something more to it" and why the case "still hasn't been solved."
