Alberto Moreno coy on Liverpool switch

It’s an open secret that Alberto Moreno could leave Sevilla at some point over the next few days. The full-back is set to complete a 22 million euro transfer to Liverpool, to join his friend Luis Alberto – although the winger will not be around to see his old team mate completes a five-year move to Anfield. Liverpool are believed to have reached an agreement with Sevilla for the Spain Under-21 international although the player remained non-committal when questioned about his scheduled switch to join Brendan Rodgers’ side at the presentation of the Danone Nations Cup at the Andalucian Football Federation yesterday.

“All I will say is that I have four years to run on my contract with Sevilla; I am only focused on player and matters regarding my future are being handled by my father and my agent. I have been a Sevillista since I was a boy, I have grown up at Sevilla and the whole of my career in football has been spent here. I’m happy at Sevilla and once we return to work (on July 7), we will begin preparations for August’s [European] Super Cup final against Real Madrid. We’re confident that we can beat them,” said Moreno, who added that he hoped Ivan Rakitic, who is close to joining Barcelona, “will play an important role in that game”.
