Madrid don’t rest. They’ve just won the Décima, but are already scouring the market to bolster the team and get ready for the fight for the Undécima, the eleventh European Cup. Among the priorities is reinforcements for the midfield, an area which suffered this season with injuries to Xabi (first half of the season) and Khedira, who has only just come back from knee surgery. According to Tuttosport, the favourite for the position is Arturo Vidal.

It’s not the first time Real have been interested in the Chilean. Last summer they tried to sign him, but Juventus refused to sign him. He’s now valued at around 50 million euros. A sum Madrid would seek to talk down, by including other players in any deal. Coentrao or Marcelo would both be looked at eagerly by Juve, but Madrid aren’t thinking of selling the Brazilian after his performance in Lisbon. Juventus are keen on Morata, who will be leaving this summer, but with a repurchase option, similar to Carvajal.

Madrid’s problem is that they aren’t the only ones interested in Vidal. Barcelona and Manchester United have asked about his situation. The player was in fact in Barcelona on 7 May, but only for an operation on his meniscus.

In spite of the surgery Vidal will be in Brazil for the World Cup. The player renewed his contract with Juventus in December, and is signed until June 2017. He hasn’t talked about a possible transfer. “There’s no move planned. I want to win the title with Juve and have a good World Cup”, he said in March. Now he’s got the League, and an open future.
