Azpilicueta: "At Chelsea we don't have a player like Cesc"

AS AS 05/06/2014 Javier G. Matallanas, Joaquín Maroto

Favourite position: “It’s true that this season I’ve played in three different positions. My first position, when I made my professional debut, was on the right wing, but the position I have played the most is right-back. This year I have been on the left and I’m happy with my progression. I prefer to play in various positions to be available to the boss.”

The experience of leaving Spain: “Personally I think it’s great; I’ve played outside Spain for four years now, in two different countries, and that’s something that makes you grow as a person and as a professional, to get to know different cultures. I would recommend it to Cesc, of course.”

Cesc’s potential arrival at Chelsea: “At the moment nothing is official, he’s a Barça player. What I can say about what I know is that he’s a great midfielder, with a lot of experience in the Premier League. Great players are always welcome at big clubs.”

The first game against Holland: “It’s the last game of the last World Cup, the final, and clearly they’ll be up for it. But so will we, everyone likes to play in these games. That’s the objective of this group, to be at the top of our game for the first match, which we know will be very tough.”

Cesc: “I personally believe he is special; few teams have that type of player, a midfielder that arrives in the box and also has great vision. The numbers prove it. He adapts well to various positions. Right now we don’t have a player like that at Chelsea."

Xavi Hernández: “Sharing a dressing room with him is an honour. He is an example, a reference point at Barça and in Spanish football, and with the level he has and everything he has won. I’m pleased I can share a dressing room with him.”

First World Cup: “They only tell me good things from four years ago, hopefully we can repeat them. They can’t even describe that, it’s only something you can feel when you experience it in person.”
