Much was said ahead of this game about how Granada would approach it. Whether or not they would give everything out on the field to suffocate Barcelona and deny their visitors the chance to celebrate a league title that had been waiting to come for weeks but that had turned out to be difficult as a result of a bad run of results. In the end, though, there was no real contest here. Or rather, it was a Blaugrana monologue from beginning to end. Barcelona have earned the Liga crown because they were the best team throughout the first half of the season and because in the latter stages they showed the resilience necessary to stave off the implacable persecution they were subjected to both by Atlético de Madrid, until the last game but one, and Real Madrid, until the very end.

The Granada game does not have much of a story to tell. The goal that Cristiano Ronaldo scored for Madrid at Riazor early on barely affected Barça's nerves. Madrid were virtual champions for just 14 minutes, until Luis Suárez struck after a clever move down the left. The goal was both a prize for Barcelona and a hammer blow for a Granada side who were having difficulties getting past the halfway line, and, whenever they managed it, constantly ran out of troops long before they ever got to Ter Stegen's territory.

If there really ever was any chance of a surprise, it evaporated quickly for Real Madrid's interests. Barcelona stepped up a gear or two and got the killer blow with a second strike after Dani Alves broke away and played in for Suárez to score with a cheeky shot. Before the break, the game was practically resolved and it was then a question of watching the clock run down until the end of the second half.

While the game went to sleep, Granada had a great chance that fell to Cuenca but he was foiled by Ter Stegen. With the game then more or less decided, Luis Suárez made it three, taking advantage of a pass from Neymar, and from then on it was just a matter of waiting for Barça to celebrate their title number 24.
