While Barcelona, as a team, are attempting to beat Milan's record, Leo Messi, Luis Suárez and Neymar, known collectively as the 'MSN', are aiming to reach their own personal best. Against Rayo Vallecano last week, Barcelona passed the record set by Leo Beenhakker's Real Madrid. They made it 35 games unbeaten in all competitions on Thursday in Vallecas. At Ipurua, with their victory over Eibar, they equalled Arrigo Sacchi's Rossoneri side, who went 36 games undefeated and could surpass that record if they do not lose to Getafe at the Camp Nou next Saturday. Together with these impressive stats are those of the 'MSN' and their goal-scoring feats.

Messi, Suárez and Neymar have now celebrated a goal 100 times together this campaign. Last season, in all competitions, the 'trident' struck 122 times between them, and achieved that even without having Luis Suárez available for many weeks at the beginning of the campaign, owing to the ban FIFA had imposed on him after the incident in the Brazil World Cup.

At Ipurua, Messi with two, and Suárez with another, put the trio 23 goals short of beating their own stats from last season. That figure of 23 is within their reach if we bear in mind that there are still ten league games to go, plus the Copa del Rey final and the rest of the Champions League still to be played. Luis Suárez reached 42 strikes against Eibar, Leo Messi, with his brace, got to 35 and Neymar has contributed another 23 goals, though he did not play at Ipurua owing to a suspension.
