Casillas: "I hold my hands up"

AS AS 14/06/2014 As.com

Spain's goalkeeper Iker Casillas admitted his part in the side's loss. He congratulated Holland and confessed that at 1-3 Spain let their heads drop and lost interest. They now have two games to get their title defence back on track.

Congratulations: "They played phenomenally, and we didn't. I also didn't play well and what happened happened. It is a game where Holland played well, and us no, but we have to think about Chile now as if it were the final".

Given up: “Our heads went down after the third goal. We knew at 1-3 it was over".

Xavi spoke of the debacle: “We have to put our hands up and think about the game against Chile. Sometimes it can be good that these things happen".

Press criticism: “We shouldn't dramatise this too much. We are world champions, and we can take the criticism. It's normal. We now have to prepare for the game against Chile".

Jordi Alba seemed confident that this was just a blip: "We had certain expectations but we did things badly. We're sure that this will change. It doesn't mean anything".
