"I’m feeling much better" says Cristiano Ronaldo

AS AS 20/05/2014 Manu Sainz

After telling Real Madrid Television that he is feeling “much better”, Cristiano Ronaldo made it clear that he will be firing on all cylinders ahead of Saturday’s Champions League final in Lisbon.

How are you feeling? “Much better; I think I’ll be at 100 per cent [for Saturday]”

Risk of a relapse: “Nobody wants to miss a final – a final which we have waited a long time for and have been close to reaching for the past two years. It’s an important gamer for us. But if your body lets you know that you aren’t able to take part, it’s not the end of the world. But I’m sure I’ll be ready. I’m feeling confident and happy”.

End of season injuries: “These things happen – especially when you’re playing at the highest level and have many games to get through. Sometimes your body tells you to stop. Unfortunately for me, I’ve had a couple of problems but that’s normal – every player goes through fitness problems. Top players aren’t immune to injury. But I am starting to feel a lot better and that’s what is important”.

Vital game: “It’s very important. We have been working hard right the way through the season to get the chance to play game likes this and that makes me happy. All I am hoping for is to be in top shape and that the fans get behind us in Lisbon, I hope they sing and support us – the Portuguese too. We need them”.

Taking a gamble on fitness: “I’m not taking any risks - like I said before, I am feeling good and I’ll be there on Saturday. Sometimes these things are psychological – I’m feeling confident”.

Atlético brimming with confidence: “Winning always breeds confidence. Atlético will be feeling happy, excited and with morale high but a final is not the same as any other game. It will be 50:50. I’m convinced that we are going to win”.

Atleti say that they are favourites... “They say they’re favourites? Well, that’s fine. We’ll see out on the pitch”.
