Koke: "I want to stay at Atleti"

AS AS 30/05/2014 Sandra del Estal

"I want to stay". That was Koke’s message in response to questions about potential offers from Manchester United and Barcelona.

Future. "I’ve got a long-term contract with Atleti. I’m happy, this is my home. I’m proud that other clubs are interested, but I’m happy and this is my home and where I want to be for now. Now it’s time for the World Cup and I want to be in the squad. That’s all I’m thinking about, for me that comes first. At the moment I feel I’m an Atleti player, there is a World Cup coming up and I’m not thinking about the future, just the present.”

Offers. “I got up this morning and loads of friends were calling me. Now I have to stay calm, rest and then on Saturday think about making the list.”

Diego Costa."When the final finished he was annoyed and it’s tricky not being able to play in such important games. He had a serious injury that kept him out of big games and he depends on the coach [Del Bosque], he’s the one that decides.”

The World Cup. “I’ve got a chance because I’m on the preliminary squad list and that means there are options. I’ve stayed in Madrid to keep a close eye on what happens and hopefully I’ll be in.”

Message to the Atlético fans. “It’s a complex situation because we had an amazing season and there are big clubs coming in for us. Miguel Ángel has already said he doesn't need to sell because the club’s OK financially, so if any player leaves it’s their decision. They’re going to try to keep the bulk of the team and work on a great project.”
