Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti, who is currently with the Italy squad for the World Cup in Brazil, has again taken centre stage in the transfer window, with his name once more linked with Real Madrid.

Newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that Donato Di Campli, Verratti’s agent, was to travel to Madrid on Tuesday to talk to Real representatives. According to the Italian daily, the price of a potential deal for the player would be more than 30 million euros.

As reported by AS in its print edition on Tuesday, Verratti and Chelsea’s Ramires are top of Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s wish-list as he looks to strengthen his side. Ancelotti took Verratti to PSG from Pescara during his spell as coach of the French champions, with the 21-year-old named France’s Young Player of the Year in 2013/14.

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez met PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi at the French Open in Paris at the end of May.

Having been handed sanctions by UEFA for Financial Fair Play breaches, PSG will have to sell if they want to buy after agreeing a 50-million-euro deal with Chelsea for Brazilian defender David Luiz.
