For some time now it has been commented that James Rodríguez is on the market ready for a summer sale while Real Madrid president, Florentino Pérez, did nothing to silence the rumours about the Colombian's departure. James' season is not turning out nearly as well as had been hoped, especially coming hard on the heels of a first campaign in which he shone brightly, more, in fact, than some of the Real Madrid stars. Possibly it is because of the his poor form that the rumours have been so rife, with him being identified as one of the players who will be on their way out at the end of this season.

According to a story published by ‘Marketing Deportivo’, the sales of shirts with his name on have put a brake on the departure of the midfielder since the name James Rodríguez continues to be one of the most requested when fans buy the Real Madrid shirt. The 'number 10’ is the second most-sold of all, ahead of stars such as Gareth Bale, Sergio Ramos or Karim Benzema. Cristiano Ronaldo is still the top-selling name on shirts, ahead of James. The sportswear firm that supplies Real Madrid has informed the president of this fact, and Pérez may have to think again whether it is a good idea to get rid of the Colombian.
