Marc André Ter Stegen wants to play a bigger role at FC Barcelona. Taking advantage of his being called up to the Germany squad, the young goalkeeper stated that he wanted to "take the next step and play more." He is patient, but he will not be for ever: "The situation is clear: if nothing changes, then we're going to have to sit down and talk."

"We'll see what plans the club has for me", he replied when asked about his future. What is clear is that playing in the Copa del Rey and Champions League games is not enough for him: "Come the end of the season I'll have played close-on 25 games. That's not such a small number, but when I come back from international duty, I'll probably be on the bench, in the 'Clásico' against Real Madrid. In the long-term, those 25 games aren't enough for me."

Ter Stegen was very downcast at the end of the last Club World Cup, in which Barça won the title by beating River Plate in the final. That day, Luis Enrique plumped for Claudio Bravo to play between the sticks for Barça, a decision that the German could not understand. He had a long face on during the celebration of the title and left the field even before some of the River Plate players had, and he did not take part in the lap of honour around the Yokohama Stadium.
