Siebensterngasse 19, A-1070, Vienna, Austria

Siebensternbräu was the first brewpub in Austria to brew specialty beers—IPA, chili, and fruit flavored. Owner Sigi Flitter also helped reintroduce many of Austria’s indigenous but forgotten beer styles.

Brewing secret

The range varies with each season, but expect a wheat beer in summer and a smoked in winter.

beer style: Smoked Bock
alcohol content: 7.9% ABV

Intense smoky nose; full, almost sweet, body, with hints of chocolate and liquorice, and a smoky finish.

Prager Dunkles

beer style: Dark Lager
alcohol content: 4.5% ABV

While most dark beers in Austria are terribly sweet, this one is dry. Intense toasty notes, very little hop aroma. Roasty finish.
