In the mid-19th century, a monopoly was broken up in Nymburk when beers from other towns could be offered for sale on one condition—that they must be tasty! The present brewery’s first beer flowed in 1898. The acclaimed writer Bohumil Hrabel was raised in the town and now features on most of the bottle labels.
