113 route Nationale, 59144, Jenlain, France

Originally a farmhouse brewery, Duyck was established in 1922, producing beers in the northern bière de garde style—brewed and bottled in the winter for laying down and drinking in the summer. In the 1950s, the family began bottling their beers in recycled champagne bottles. Raymond Duyck, the present manager, is the fourth generation of this family of brewers.

Jenlain Ambrée

beer style: Amber Ale
alcohol content: 7.5% ABV

Full bodied, with a hint of bitterness, the mellowness of roasted malt and aromas of stewed prunes and caramel. A perfect accompaniment to food, but also an ingredient in rustic local dishes such as Carbonnade Flamande (beef cooked in beer).
