Myanmar landslide At least 50 dead and over 200 trapped after jade mine collapses

A jade mine in Hpakant, Myanmar, collapsed around 6.30am on Thursday killing at least 50 people and burying over 200 more Miners were collecting stones when a "muddy wave" caused by heavy rain buried them at around 6.30am local time. The tragedy happened in the jade-rich Hpakant area of Kachin state, in the north of the country. "Now in total 50 dead bodies," the country's fire service said in a post. "We are still working on the rescue process." It continued: "The jade miners were smothered by a wave of mud, which hit after heavy rainfall."
