TikTok Australia and New Zealand General Manager Lee Hunter says the number one focus for the social media app TikTok is data and privacy security.
His comments come as TikTok is facing backlash from people across the world due to its links with China and how the app manages the data of its users.
“The data isn’t held in China,” Mr Hunter told Sky News Australia.
“We do have those protections in place - the data is held in the US and Singapore, strict cyber security.
“Aussies data is safe - we do a better job than anyone in this because we’ve had to.”
