Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone decided to take a break from the ongoing Padmavati controversy and step out for a quiet evening together. The lovebirds were spotted outside a high-end restaurant in Mumbai, after a cosy dinner date.

The actors seemed quite disinterested in posing for the shutterbugs and made a silent exit after their dinner. Fan clubs of Ranveer Singh shared the photos on Twitter.

It was recently that Ranveer was seen singing "Ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga...," the famous track from the film 1942 A Love Story, while Deepika blushed away. Singh told Deepika in the video, "The way you have lightened up the life of your million fans, you lightened up my life. I will pray to God that the shine and light stay in your life forever. There is nobody like you, god bless you. Love you a lot."

While there was speculation that Deepika and Ranveer might have broken up, thanks to a few cryptic tweets that Singh posted a few weeks ago, seems like all of it was a false alarm. The lovebirds look very much together and they have been going out of their way to profess the same to the world.

The two actors are currently in the middle of a massive controversy because of their yet-to-be released film Padmavati. The film, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has been in choppy waters after several Hindu groups took offence to the 'distortion of history' in it.

A dream sequence featuring a love scene between Deepika (who plays Rani Padmini of Chittor) and Ranveer (who plays Alauddin Khilji, Turkish emperor and the Sultan of Delhi in the 14th Century) has been the rallying point of all controversy around Padmavati.

While the team has taken turns to clarify that there is no such scene in the film, not even a frame that has Deepika and Ranveer together in it, fringe groups have been up in arms against Padmavati. Such is the current state of the Padmavati controversy, that a person was found hanging from Jaipur's Nahargarh fort walls on November 24, with threats scribbled on stones near the body, with no actual link to the film.

From threats to behead the director to chopping off Deepika's nose, from countrywide protests to Rajput groups demanding separate screenings of the film for them, Padmavati has been in the middle of a veritable storm ever since the crew began shooting for it.

Since January this year, when the Hindu group Shri Rajput Karni Sena attacked Padmavati director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film has seen innumerable protests against it.

Padmavati, that was initially scheduled to release on December 1 this year, has now been indefinitely pushed. The film is yet to receive a certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Ranveer and Deepika had been lying low for quite some time, thanks to the numerous controversies around their film. In the past, the two actors have worked together in three films: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 2013 film Goliyon Ki Rasleela - Ram-Leela and 2015 film Bajirao Mastani; and Homi Adajania's 2014 film Finding Fanny.

While Deepika and Ranveer have never quite spoken out loud about their exact relationship status, the general consensus among their fans is that they began dating on the sets of Ram-Leela in 2013.
