Bollywood films shot in Europe

Slide 1 of 19

Hindi cinema's long-standing fascination with Europe goes decades back when showman Raj Kapoor took us to London, Paris, Rome, Venice, Vatican and Switzerland, for his 1964 blockbuster 'Sangam.'

Two decades later, Yash Chopra shot the evergreen 'dekha ek khwab....' song from his 1981 film 'Silsila' in Netherlands, and his film 'Faasle' (1985), in Switzerland. He kept coming back later for films like 'Chandni' (1989), 'Mohabbatein' (2000), 'Veer Zaara' (2004) but it was the iconic 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaenge' in 1995, which popularized Europe, particularly Switzerland, as a staple destination for Bollywood romances.

Even as IIFA 2016 is set to kick off in Spain this weekend, we take you through some of the most popular and recent films shot in the exotic continent.
