(TAP)-The 27th Chinese naval escort taskforce steamed last January 16 into the Port of La Goulette for a 5-day courtesy call, the second of the Chinese Navy in Tunisia.

The fleet, which consists of destroyers Wuhan and Haikou as well as a comprehensive supply ship, has recently completed a mission dubbed Maritime Surveillance and Fight against Piracy in the Gulf of Aden (Yemen).

Representatives of the national army, China's Ambassador to Tunisia Bian Yanhua, the Chinese military attaché as well as Chinese business representatives and students in Tunisia were present at a welcome ceremony at the port.

A reception was held on board the ship in the presence of Tunisian military officials, representatives of political parties and diplomatic missions in Tunisia and senior foreign ministry officials, in particular.
