Nikai is a brand committed to reliability and quality, and marches on to fortify areas of operation and novel products geared towards growth.

"Dubai's electronic market size is expected to grow at 4.7 per cent and exceed $3 billion by 2020, as per Dubai Chamber reports. Despite mounting pressures from low oil prices, and uncertainties, Dubai retail sales activity has witnessed continued growth due to rising population and steady inflow of tourists," said Karthik Moorthy, Vice President, Nikai.

According to a survey by Dubai Chamber, the market for consumer electronics is gradually shifting towards more compact and multifunctional devices, particularly those offering Internet connectivity. As a result, items such as tablets and smartphones are enjoying solid growth in sales.

"Significantly, the increasing quality, processing power, and range of applications offered by these devices are taking market share from many other items, such as digital cameras, portable mp3 players, DVD players, laptops and desktops," he shared.

Nikai keeps up with trends to ensure that customers enjoy the latest state-of-the-art technology. To date, one of its exceptional offerings is the Smart Curved LED TV, which is the brand's best-selling product, and its large range of UHD Televisions.

"Since its inception, this television

has been in high demand among our customers, and we continue to improve

the technology to making it more user-friendly and easy on the eye. This year we have made advancements in the quality of sound and picture."

The televisions now support Android and iOS connectivity, which makes it easier for customers to stream from their phones to the television easily.

"Our recent product introductions in the small appliances category have also met with excellent response," he added.

Dubai is a lucrative consumer electronics market that records high levels of consumer spending. There are a number of trends influencing the consumption patterns within the consumer durables market. According to Moorthy, the constantly growing population is pushing up demand, while the rising number of tourists along with the expansion of the hospitality sector and shopping festivals has also supported sales in this market.

"Brick and mortar stores, specifically electronics and appliance speciality retailers and hypermarkets, continue to be the leading retail channels due to their advantage of having wide product selections and price ranges. The benefit is that the retailers offer expert advice and tailored recommendations, and consumers for the most part still prefer to test out products in-store and rely on after-sales service," he said.

Looking ahead, he predicts that the consumer electronics (CE) industry - inclusive of Smart TVs, smart homes, smartphones, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and connected cars, to name a few - has permeated every aspect of human life.

"Largely driven by consumers' desire for newer, better, and improved capabilities, this sector is constantly looking for technologies, innovations, or products that not only capture the people's imagination but are affordable and relevant to solving day-to-day problems," he concluded.
