Thousands turn up at Marigold Festival at iconic location in Karachi

Karachi: Thousands visited the Marigold Flower Festival at a park at a famous colonial-era monument in downtown Karachi.

The Horticulture Department of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) organised the Marigold Festival at the park of Frere Hall, a 156-year-old iconic building on Abdullah Haroon Road.

Sindh Law and Environment Adviser Barrister Murtaza Wahab along with Administrator Karachi Laeeq Ahmed inaugurated the exhibition.

Speaking on the occasion, Sindh Law Adviser said the KMC had rendered the best service to people of Karachi by organising the colourful and lively festival.

He said the Sindh government would fully support the KMC to organise such activities for recreation of the public.

He said the Sindh government had been waging a campaign to make Karachi clean and green and to resolve its environmental issues.

He said that Karachi was witnessing a pleasant change as such festivals were being organised for the public.

He said the attendance of a large number of citizens at the festival showed that people of Karachi were keen to take part in such healthy festivities.

He expressed gratitude to Karachi’s administrator and Horticulture Department of the KMC for organising the festival.

He appealed to people of Karachi to actively take part in the tree plantation drive to increase greenery in the city.

He said that Marigold Festival would be organised in every public park of the city.

Speaking on the occasion, Karachi’s Administrator said that marigold plants displayed at the exhibition were nurtured at the nurseries of the KMC as civil society also took part in the festival.
