ABU DHABI, 28th September, 2018 (WAM) -- Dubai’s penchant for the Number 1 slot is well known. Strategic initiatives and endless attractions have continued to place the Emirate among the world’s sought-after destinations, commented a local daily.

With Dubai now becoming the world’s first city to enable investors to start business from remote locations, there is another major reason to feel happy.

An agreement between the Dubai Investment Development Agency, Dubai FDI, an agency of the Department of Economic Development and the US-based Alliance Business Centres Network, that now allows investors globally to start their business in Dubai without having to be in the UAE is a commendable step that will help reach out to international investors and companies, Gulf Today said in its editorial.

The partnership, which will enable investors overseas to use a network of as many as 650 business centres spread across 85 cities in 45 countries to start a business in Dubai, will undoubtedly go a long way in attracting sustainable foreign investment and also promote the emirate as a competitive destination to do business, the paper added.

Dubai’s strategy, supported by free and open economies policies and competitiveness, allows companies to benefit from the movement of goods to various regional and international markets, which is positively reflected in the promotion of global trade.

One should not forget that Dubai was the first city to launch a "happiness indicator" initiative to measure people’s happiness and satisfaction over the services provided by government departments on a daily basis.

"What has made Dubai a success story is its clear-cut policies that greatly facilitate business and also offer an integrated package of services that vastly support growth and expansion," the paper wrote.
