Film star Brad Pitt admitted that he ‘panicked’ when trying to come up with the accent for Micky O’Neil, the Irish Traveller boxer from Guy Ritchie’s crime drama-comedy Snatch.

Speaking with Collider, Pitt said that playing Mickey specifically made him nervous because he struggled to come up with a convincing Irish accent.

Pitt explained:’It was the dialect. If you haven’t seen it, I play this Irish gypsy, and the dialect is unintelligible, contrary to being trained to be clear and understood.

‘And so, I was working on the accent and trying to be clear and understood, and it wasn’t working. I went to him the day before and I said, “Guy, I’m gonna f**k up your movie. You should do it.”

He said, ‘Oh, no. No, no, no, no, no.’ I was literally supposed to be on set the next morning at 6:00 am, and I was living in North London and I was walking the streets like a maniac. My friend kept saying, ‘You can’t understand it.’

He further explained that the accent clicked ‘literally at midnight’ the night before and was so excited he rang and woke Guy up. He asked him if he was OK that his dialogue wasn’t understandable to which Ritchie replied ‘Yep.’

He also previously explained in an interview with, that, believe it or not, his accent was inspired by a guest star on an episode of Father Ted!
