No sir! Famous people who turned down a British honor

Every year, the British monarch confers honors on a list of men and women for their contributions to various fields or for bravery. While it is widely considered a great privilege, not all those nominated are willing to accept the titles offered.

Check out this list of famous people, which includes actor John Cleese, chef and TV personality Nigella Lawson, physicist Stephen Hawking and former Beatle John Lennon, all of whom either turned down the recognition or accepted it only to return the award at a later date.
