But on Wednesday night, they failed to deliver perfect dishes for the judges.

'I didn't think I'd be giving a critique like this tonight,' Pete Evans told the siblings, as they landed themselves on the bottom of the leaderboard.

MKR: The Rivals sees five 'Champion' couples from past seasons going head-to-head with five new 'Challenger' teams, under the direction of chefs Colin Fassnidge and Manu Feildel as team captains.

It was their main seafood dish that let the pair down, with Pete claiming it was 'bland' and 'lucklustre'.

'You should be putting eights and nines on the plates,' he said, before giving them a very low score of three for the main.

'The score is harsh, but I think It's deserved.'

To stay off the bottom of the leaderboard the team needed to beat Challenger mummy bloggers Jenni and Louise's score of 48.

Unfortunately, Jake and Elle scored a total of 47 - with 18/30 from each judge and a 6/10 from their own House of Manu and a 5 from Fans team: House of Colin.

Jake took the defeat gracefully: 'We bummed out in the main, so I do think that reflects the scores given to us from both houses.'

Their rivals low score of five, comes after they scored Jenni and Louise's menu a seven, despite the judges scoring their main dishes with a two and three.

Newcomer Lauren shocked the cast earlier in the week, by admitting: 'The first instant restaurant is where we set the bar, and potentially we were wrong with it because we didn't have anything to compare it to, and now we do.'

'We set the bar wrong, and we do regret it,' Lauren added.

Next to cook will be childhood friends Sue Ann and Sylvia from the House of Colin.
