McDonald's has launched a new McVeggie burger in selected Australian stores to gauge how their customers react to vegetarian-friendly patty options.

The newest addition, which first launched in Singapore in 2016, will be trialled in South Australia before the fast food chain decides whether there is enough demand for it nationwide.

With more restaurants welcoming vegan and vegetarian alternatives to their menus, McDonald's decided to introduce the flavour sensation Down Under.

This isn't the first time the corporation have attempted to bring the veggie burger to Australian shores but back in 2016 there wasn't enough traction to keep it circulating.

So they quietly pulled it from stores until the vegetarian movement made a resurgence.

A McDonald's spokesperson told News.com.au that the look and taste of the burger is different to their offering three years ago.

This one mimics the vegan nuggets currently being sold in Norway, which have a vegetable mix of potato, peas, corn, carrot and onion inside a crumbed coating.

Alongside the patty the burger will also include cheese, lettuce, mayonnaise and delicious pickles.

'We're excited to be trialling the McVeggie burger in South Australia so our customers can give us feedback on it before we look to serve it up across the country.'

So if there isn't enough consumer demand for the product it may not stay on the menu for long.

The burger is currently available in South Australia so get in quick to try the all-new flavour.
