Last year sent our beauty routines into a bit of a tailspin (thanks, maskne!) and basically any sheet masks became our new best friend. Now, we are relieved to focus on a more normal range of skincare and beauty needs.

As we prepare our skin for winter, we'd also quite like to keep our summer glow for as long as possible, thank you very much.

These products have caught the ELLE team's attention, from a fresh new scent from Marc Jacobs to hard-working retinol-based skin barriers from Drunk Elephant. They'll quickly earn a well-deserved place in your #shelfie and will get your gorgeous skin glowing pronto.

"I'm a huge fan of anything Drunk Elephant - the brand has never failed me, and I use the LaLa Moisturiser and the A-Passioni Retinol Cream religiously. This new skin mist is all about a balanced skin barrier, something that's important to me because in the past, I've suffered through dermatitis and know what an impaired skin barrier feels like (spoiler alert: not great). Maintaining your skin barrier can fix a world of problems like fine lines, skin texture and glow - sign me up."

"I love a woody fragrance as much as the next girl, but sometimes you just want a scent that is bright and juicy, you know? Marc Jacobs Eau So Intense is exactly that. A decidedly youthful mix of strawberries and honey, combined with bergamot, vanilla and musk to give the fragrance depth, I'll be spritzing this daily from now until Spring."

"Not a lot truly excites me when it comes to makeup anymore—blame that on ex-Mecca girl syndrome and overexposure—but the new Australian and plastic-free (!) cosmetics line Flavedo & Albedo has broken the cycle. The curated range is full of high-performance makeup that is blessedly plastic-free, utilising infinitely recyclable metal tins and recycled glass jars instead. The Dew Tints, aka their pigmented and sheeny cream blush formula, are so enjoyable and easy to use they've edged my usual cream blush staples out of the daily rotation. Highly recommend the sunny, peachy Grapefruit shade for gals with darker skin."

"As someone who's always racing out the door—especially on those sleepy weekday mornings—I'm always on the hunt for chic-yet-speedy makeup. Enter: ILIA's Liquid Powder Chromatic Eye Tint. Perfect for days when I'm going from my desk to the bar, it's quick to apply, super buildable and has a glowing, no-crease finish. Plus, it's infused with skin-loving jojoba oil and orange flower water, so of course, it's a must-have!"

"It takes a lot to persuade me away from my everyday, go-to mascara, and this innovative arrival from Benefit has certainly done the trick. The length it gives my lashes is unrivalled (thanks to its zigzag bristles), while the magnetic, mineral enriched formula makes the finish perfectly fluttery."

This stuff is liquid gold and smells as delicious as it feels. It's incredibly hydrating, really does deliver the ultimate dewy, sun-kissed glow (a considerable achievement on my combination skin type) and I've also found it to be one of the best products for fading my stubborn pigmentation. Total triple-threat.

Le Labo's Hinoki Avocado Body Cream has become my go-to winter skin saviour. It smells incredible (think smoky Japanese temples with a touch of almond) but it is about as strong as wearing a perfume, so it's best worn alone. The best part is lathering it on after a shower, snuggling into some silk sheets and waking up to its scent still lingering as I make tea in my pyjamas. Oh, and it will last you at least a year – so you definitely get your money's worth.
