A basic old house has been transformed into a palatial mansion that features a suspended glass footbridge, a dinner table that 'floats' off the floor and a show-stopping swimming pool inspired by the water of the Aegean Sea.

The dream home in Sylvania Waters, 25 kilometres south of Sydney CBD, is unrecognisable from the original two-storey that stood there when it was last on the market 10 years ago.

The current owners knocked the house to make way for a 607sqm landmark property inspired by luxury resorts on the Greek island of Mykonos, which are synonymous with poolside cabanas and sundrenched terraces.

The architecturally designed masterpiece finished in 2012 is built around a sprawling open-plan living space, crowned with a glass atrium and a hanging glass walkway that connects four of the five bedrooms.

The master boasts a statement curved wall, walk-in wardrobe and opulent ensuite.

Downstairs, the centrepiece of the designer kitchen is a large walk-in pantry and an elevated dining table that looks to be floating above the floor.

Each of the three hotel-style bathrooms is fitted with luxury fixtures including Gessi taps, which cost anywhere from $770 to $3,000 (AUD).

Outside, a gas-heated mineral pool borders the house along with a barbecue and several al fresco entertaining areas.

The house also comes with a single-car parking garage and a spacious office.

Listing agent Adam David, who is overseeing the sale of the property for Greg Gilbert Real Estate, said it is a one-of-a-kind in the neighbourhood.

'There is nothing of a similar quality like it in the suburb,' he told realestate.com.au.

The house is on the market with a $3million (AUD) price guide, which Mr David said would be 'easily' $6million to $7million if it was in Sydney's sought-after Eastern Suburb close to Bondi or Bronte beach.
