Two children have been winched to safety in a massive rescue operation after spending nearly 24 hours lost in dense bushland.

Eli Jones, 14, and Hannah Jones, 12, had left their home on Monday afternoon at around 2:30pm for a walk in Kains Flat, about 35km northeast of Mudgee.
