Scales of justice. © AAP Image/Dave Hunt Scales of justice. A NSW doctor has been charged with sexually assaulting a patient at a medical practice near Wollongong.

The 58-year-old male doctor was arrested this morning at the clinic and taken to Wollongong Police Station.

Police allege he took advantage of a male patient, aged 56, over a two-year period.

"It is alleged the doctor, over numerous visits, sexually touched and committed sexual acts on the patient," NSW Police said.

The doctor was charged with two counts of sexual touching and two counts of aggravated sexual assault.

He was refused bail and is due to appear before Wollongong Local Court today.
