Abortion decision 'more complex' for women than debate suggests, Uniting Church minister tells NSW inquiry

Uniting Church minister Dr Margaret Mayman speaks to NSW Parliament's upper house committee in Sydney which is examining draft legislation to decriminalise abortion in the state. The private member's bill, which passed the lower house last week, allows terminations up to 22 weeks as well as for later abortions if two doctors considering all the circumstances agree the termination should occur. Rev Dr Mayman says the decision is "more complex" for women than simply pitting their rights against the rights of the fetus. "It's not a sort of declaration generally, and the research will support this, that's it's my right to do with my body what I like," she tells the hearing. (AAP VIDEO/Callum Godde).
