Australia has become one of the first countries in the world to officially recognise psychedelics as medicines
From the first of July, authorised psychiatrists can prescribe MDMA, the active ingredient in party drug "ecstasy" to treat Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Psilocybin for depression. Dr Peter Duggan is a Senior Principal Research Scientist in the field of Botanical Pharmaceuticals at the CSIRO, he says just one dose can have a long lasting effect.
