Senior Political reporter Trudy McIntosh says there is a “big rump” within the Coalition after an agreement had been reached with the Labor government on the Voice deal.
“The Coalition has been withholding support saying they wanted the government to provide funding ... they have not actually managed to obtain that, but nonetheless, they have reached this deal,” she told Sky News Australia.
“Others within the Coalition senate team who would have reservations with this ... we're yet to hear publicly if they will vote against it,” Ms McIntosh said.
“This has come down to some pragmatism that the Coalition are able to control this process more if they’re in the tent by doing a deal with the government than rather if the government then did this with the crossbench and the Greens.”
