Regional settlement tied to permanent residency: Coleman

March 20, 2019. The Minister for Immigration David Coleman joined the Prime Minister Scott Morrison in Canberra to announce that immigration numbers will be reduced by 30,000 places a year. Mr Coleman explains how the government is introducing a scheme to offer permanent residency if migrants move to regional areas for three years. "So by linking the requirement that a person stays in a regional areas for three years to their permanent residency, will see a very very high level of compliance," Mr Coleman says.
