Canberra Raiders duo Josh Hodgson and Bailey Simonsson are both set to miss the remainder of the 2020 NRL season, following injuries in their 20-14 loss to the Melbourne Storm on Saturday night.

Hodgson left the field with a suspected torn ACL, and the news was confirmed by the club on Sunday afternoon.

The 30-year old will meet with surgeons this week to determine when he will go under the knife.

The hooker position will now likely be shared by Siliva Havili and Tom Starling.

The bad news doesn't stop there for the Green Machine however, with young winger Bailey Simonsson set for shoulder surgery that will also rule him out for the season.

Canberra are already without John Bateman, Sia Soliola, Emre Guler and Corey Horsburgh - all key players in their lineup.

But Raiders coach Ricky Stuart believes his side still has plenty in the tank.

“I don’t give a s*** what other people think," he said.

"We won’t get out heads down, I promise you. We won’t get our heads down.

“After that effort tonight with losing one of our key players...if I lost every other game of the season and I had that same effort we had tonight I’m a happy coach.

“That’s all I ask, that you just keep turning up and give me that effort tonight."

Canberra will meet last year's premiers the Sydney Roosters in round 10 which will be a rematch from their thrilling encounter in the 2019 grand final.
